A Culinary Tour of South American Flavors

cross Pick-up at 9:30 am. Transportation from your location to the town of Adrogue
Duration 1 hour

cross Arrive to Adrogue, a town buried deep in the Argentine culture. We start our journey at the Feria de Marmol, a colorful outdoor food market where locals gather to talk and buy what local farmers bring fresh that morning. For a fantastic source of insider's information; Teresita will go over the names of different fruits, vegetables, fish, poultry, meat cuts, and South American spices throughout the fair. Peak into the Argentine culture and watch what goes on at this very traditional market. Stands go for several blocks and the area is closed to traffic.
The whole scenery is a must see if you are the "foddie" type of traveler; trucks filled with fresh fish, amazing fruit and vegetable selections, and a wide variety of small stands displaying all kind of spices and herbs is the reason why we choose to bring you here. The food and its creative and cheerful display speaks for itself. There is always more to these type of food markets than produce and artisanal food, it is a true reflection of the Argentine culture.
*Please note the Marmol food market is not a fancy market, it is still unspoiled by the ravages of mass tourism as opposed to food markets you can find in downtown Buenos Aires. It is a place where vendors still sell local produce, and the villagers still smile and greet. You won't find rows of stores selling French cheese or Italian olive oil. Instead, you will experience the real Argentinean town market. We selected this market because our main purpose of our culinary tours is to bring you closer to our culture.
Duration 1 hour

cross Next, stop at the local butcher's shop for a comprehensive lesson on how to select the right meat for the perfect empanadas. Learn how to select meat based on color, size, fat density and freshness for the empanadas that you will soon be baking! You will get to see achuras (cuts of meat) you have never seen before
Duration 15- 30 minutes.

cross  Arrival at Cooking with Teresita and begin a hands-on cooking class of empanadas Argentinas. (see video below for an overview of the empanadas class). This cooking class is set up in an intimate, hands-on manner. Teresita patiently teaches the skills and techniques required to prepare this traditional dish in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. Learn to differentiate the taste of fried and bake empanadas. After the lesson is completed, sit to enjoy what was created at the garden table in which nothing complements an Empanadas feast better than a glass of Argentine wine or two, or three. Be ready to try a selection of the specially selected wines from; Torrontés is Argentina's best white variety creating a fresh, fruity and elegant white wine and Malbec steals the show with its deep, ripe, juicy flavors ideal for red meats, and embarked on a love affair for Argentine wines that will last a lifetime.
