"Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your lovely little house"Hi Teresa, Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your lovely little house and for making us so welcome. As you know, this was a really important trip for Ian, revisiting the land of his birth, and you made it into such a friendly and enjoyable experience from beginning to end. So we are both very grateful to you! We had a good journey home, but it took a long time, with many hours waiting at airports and for buses so we were very tired. We had an interesting time bringing wine back: we bought 6 bottles of "Del Fin Del Mundo" malbec at the duty free, but found that at Milan we were not allowed to carry it on board and had to check it in as hold luggage. We took it to the "special packages" check in, but when we got to Heathrow the baggage handlers put it in with the regular baggage and it was thrown out of a chute onto the conveyor belt with a huge crash! Wine poured everywhere, and we were sad that we would have no wonderful wine to share with our family, but luckily only 1 bottle was broken..... so we still have 5 precious bottles! We will savour them, and remember sitting round your table drinking wine with you both! |
